Citizen Body
Laboratory of choreographic actions
Edited by Daniele Ninarello
from 15 to 21 December at the Monacelle
via Ransom, Matera

On the occasion of Matera Città Aperta, the new theatrical production of IAC Centro Arti Integrate co-produced with the Fondazione Matera 2019, we will host Daniele Ninarello, choreographer and dancer, who will create a workshop for the construction of choreographic actions that will become part of the show.

The workshop explores the central themes of work on which the production will be carried out: the relationship with the limit, the relationship with power, the lie.
Limit understood as physical and material separation but also as a non-visible separation; power understood as a force that attracts everything to itself, that absorbs everything and makes it slaves; lies, the great scourge of contemporaneity, that manages to hide even the most explicit truths through mechanisms of persuasion and social influence.

The investigation that will be carried out during the working days will try to highlight the relationship between the issues addressed and the citizens, understood as the unitary body of the city, which leaves traces and which reinvents itself every time in its political doing as creative action.
The workshop will be held from 15 to 21 December, and it will be possible to follow him during three different time slots: morning, afternoon and evening.
Participation is free and open to all, professionals and non-professionals, and to anyone aged 10 to 100 years.
To participate just send an email to organizzazione@centroiac.comentro on December 13, indicating the time slot of your choice.

MATERA OPEN CITY
UTOPIAS AND DYSTOPIAS
Co-production IAC Centro Arti Integrate e Matera 2019

Matera Città Aperta investigates and experiments with the theme of limit, understood as a physical and material separation but also as a non-visible separation.
Limit is linked to issues such as diversity, division, the construction of barriers, the exercise of power, but also accessibility, inclusion, participation, breaking down and overcoming boundaries.
The project was born from the meeting between organizations from Italy, England and Tunisia and involved groups of citizens during open phases of laboratory.
Matera Città Aperta is a show built in episodes that develops over a week, in a crescendo of scenic intensity and suggestions.
In the main square is drawn a line that divides the city into two parts. In the following days, the separation becomes material, growing gradually until it becomes an insurmountable limit, a wall that tells the contradictions in which we live: on the one hand a hyper-connected dimension, which connects distant places and people, on the other hand a social reality that puts us increasingly faced with separations and inequalities.
2019 is the thirtieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the year in which England officially left the European Union and in which new walls were erected to defend old borders, from the humanitarian corridor in the Balkans, to the new wall between Mexico and the U.S.A.
We celebrate these events by involving the city in a dystopian provocation, with the intention of building, over time, new utopian visions.
