Movimento libero investigates the relationship between art and different abilities with a special focus on accessibility. An incentive to design a more accessible world, both from a physical and artistic viewpoint,  where diversity drives creativity.

Dr. Jos Boys, Senior Lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture UCL, and Co-Director of The DisOrdinary Architecture Project, will talk about ‘Doing Disability Differently’:  from being a problem to a creative force. Disabled people still tend to be seen as a problem in the design of the built environment; a restriction and an afterthought. But what happens if we realize that our ideas about disability and ability are completely interlinked? By thinking about disability differently, this talk suggests ways in which to build creatively, harnessing the diverse knowledge disabled people have regarding space.

The open talk, moderated by Rita Orlando, project manager of the Open Design School, will include the participation of Maria Rosaria Mongelli, Councilor for Urban Planning of the Municipality of Matera, who will address the theme of planning and recovery for the sustainable use of urban cultural centers and Antonello Pagliuca, Professor of Architectural Technology at DiCEM - UniBas, who will present inclusive designs to promote accessibility of existing heritage.

The event will be opened by Aurelia Sole, Dean of the University of Basilicata, Antonella Guida, Coordinator of the Architecture Course of DiCEM - UniBas and Rossella Tarantino, Development and Relations Area Manager at Matera Basilicata Foundation 2019.
