An event entirely dedicated to the figure and role of Rocco Petrone, a story that combines emigration and the American dream. Rocco Petrone was the director of the Apollo 11 launch from Cape Kennedy on 16 July 1969: the man behind the mission that would take the first men to the moon. The son of farmers from Basilicata who had sought fortune in America, he was born in Amsterdam, New York, in 1926. Wanted at NASA by von Braun, he worked on the construction of the Saturn V and the mythical launching pad 39 from which the astronauts set off for the Moon. He was later promoted to director of the Apollo programme and, at the height of his career, became the number three of NASA.

From the new book to the world premiere of the documentary:  - From the earth to the moon, Rocco Petrone, the Italian behind Apollo 11, the new book by Renato Cantore published in Italy by Rubbettino. Presentation of the book that inspired the documentary together with the author and the publisher.

- Luna Italiana (Italian Moon), preview of the documentary directed by Marco Spagnoli and produced by the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà for A + E Networks Italia with the sponsorship of the Italian Space Agency and in collaboration with NASA, aired exclusively on History (channel 407 Sky) on 18 July. This will be followed by a discussion with the participation of, among others, the president of the Italian Space Agency Giorgio Saccoccia, astronaut Roberto Vittori, astrophysicist Amedeo Balbi, and the director of the space geodesy centre of Matera, Giuseppe Bianco.
