Here organisers can find all the information they need to upload events onto the Matera 2019 Events platform and promote them free of charge on the web.
Find out how to register, how to upload your events and the rules of use of the events calendar for Matera and Basilicata.

Matera 2019 Events is free to access for anyone wishing to upload any number of events onto the calendar. The rules of use must be respected at all times.
The search area centres on the 131 towns in Basilicata, but the radius of the search area means that events across the south of Italy can also be seen. All of the events across Europe uploaded by organisers can be entered and seen via the “Outside the Region” filter.

The platform has a CC-BY-SA licence, which allows you to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, and to remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, even commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given.
If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.

Matera 2019 Events is a project of the Matera-Basilicata Foundation 2019. Staff can be contacted by emailing info@materaevents.it.

Matera is European Capital of Culture 2019. Credit for this historic result is shared with the many associations and institutions that have enlivened the cultural life of our city and our region over recent years. This myriad of initiatives is increasingly linked to the Matera 2019 candidacy Bid-bookand increasingly inspired by European best practices.
Not a day goes by when an event linked to the European Capital of Culture 2019 does not take place in Matera, in Basilicata or in Europe.

The platform was created to publish and promote events via online communication channels and to ensure that an up-to-date calendar of events is always available.

There is a quick and simple procedure for all organisers to follow in order to upload their events, entering the appropriate information into the fields in the form.

Once all the information has been entered, you can publish your event or save it as a draft to change or publish later. You can manage your events from your own private area.

If there are any errors, or if you wish to report anything else, you can write to info@materaevents.it. Staff will reply 09:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday.

The Matera 2019 Events platform is public and belongs to all. Let’s not ruin it with false or inconsistent information!
The Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation is not responsible for the content of any sites linked to this one nor for the quality or accuracy of information supplied by third parties.

You are fully responsible for the content which you publish.

Before publishing photos, videos or texts from the Internet, make sure you check all relevant regulations and do not infringe the rights of the author or other third-party rights.

Any content which does not conform to these rules may be removed.
The staff reserves the right to remove any private events or those which are clearly not aligned with the cultural programme of Matera 2019.

The slogan with which Matera 2019 sums up its project is Open Future. We want to look to the future, opening our cultural and geographic borders, encouraging social inclusion, increasing the space for dialogue and discussion in order to create a new community of citizens able to use creativity to drive development.
Open Future is also what we are aiming for, using a humanistic approach to the freeing up of data and to the sharing of knowledge.
The Matera 2019 platform is therefore both open and shared. The data you enter onto the events platform will be open data, creating a csv file which can be downloaded and reused.

Italian is our mother tongue, English is our gateway to the world.
Matera 2019 is an international project! We are getting ready to welcome thousands of temporary citizens from all over Europe and the world. If you can, please also enter your data onto the English-language version of the site.

The more precise you are when you complete the form, the more visible your event will be.
When the list of events is shown, those events with most information attached will be shown first.

Go to the www.materaevents.it site and in the menu click on ADD EVENT. On your first visit to the site you will need to register by clicking on REGISTER.
Complete the obligatory fields (fields marked * are obligatory). These contact details will be visible to users under “Organisers”.

The email address you use to access the platform (which you need to enter in the section entitled EMAIL AND PASSWORD TO ACCESS THE PLATFORM) will not be visible to users of the site.

The section COMPLETE IF DIFFERENT FROM ORGANISER refers to the contact for the event. The contact for the event is the person managing events for the organisation. This must therefore be completed if the contact is different from the organiser.

Moving the cursor towards the right details of the main contact (email and phone) will be visible in the organiser section. If this option is turned off, the email and phone shown will be those of the organiser.

Once all the fields have been completed, click on REGISTER. You will receive an activation email at the email address you entered to access the site.
Click on the link in the email to activate your account. You will be redirected to Matera Events. Log in with the details you gave. Congratulations! You can now add your first event.

Add event

To add an event, go to the www.materaevents.it site and click on ADD EVENT or access the dashboard via ENTER and click on NEW EVENT.

Single event: if the event takes place on a single day
Repeated event: if the event takes place on two or more non-consecutive days (for example a theatre performance which is repeated three days after the first performance).
Continuing event: if the event takes place on two or more consecutive days (NB: the events must take place at the same time, for example Saturday 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. then the following Sunday 6:00 p.m. to8:00 p.m. If your events are on consecutive days but at different times, we recommend you duplicate the event – see DUPLICATE EVENT).

The event may be part of an existing exhibition or festival. It is possible to create a new exhibition or festival simply by writing the name of the event. If the event is not part of an exhibition or festival, leave the fields blank.

In the INFO section, you must enter the title, subtitle and description in Italian. These are not obligatory fields in English but will clearly be useful for people viewing the site in that language. We need to remind you that the system rewards those events with most information by making them the most visible.

If you think your event is aligned with one of the themes of the candidacy Bid-book of Matera 2019, click on one of the options in the Bid-book Themes drop-down menu.

In the TIMES AND PRICES section you can specify if the event is free or payable, and if there is a range of prices, such as full price tickets, reduced price tickets. You can also specify whether the same event takes place more than once during the day (for example, an event which is divided into a morning phase and an afternoon phase). This is done by specifying the times under MULTIPLE TIMES.

Under LOCATION you must specify whether the event takes place in Basilicata or Outside the Region. The address is also an obligatory field and can be entered automatically or manually. As information is entered, the system will auto-completethe address. If the system does not identify the address correctly,it can be entered manually by using either the name of the street or GPS coordinates in decimal degrees.

The following is one way of finding geographical coordinates. Go to www.openstreetmap.org. Find the place where the event will be hosted, right click and choose “Show address”. In the box to the left you will see the coordinates in decimal degrees. Copy and paste these into the event form.

Under “Location”, you should enter the name of the place where the event will be hosted (for example, “Palazzo Lanfranchi”, “Teatro Don Bosco” and so on).

In the “ADDITIONAL INFORMATION”section move your cursor towards the right if your event is sponsored by the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation or if it is included in the official programme of the Matera-Basilicata 2019 Foundation.

To preview the event, click on SAVE AND ADD IMAGES. From here you can add images of your event. We suggest you add an evocative photograph of the event rather than the flyer for the event. The flyer is best placed in the picture gallery.

At this point you can publish the event by clicking on PUBLISH. Alternatively, you can see a preview. The preview of the event will open on a new page. Warning: the event has not been published at this stage.

To publish the event or to edit the data, go back to the previous page and click on PUBLISH to publish the event, or on SAVE DRAFT to save a draft of the event and make changes.

NB: The date of the event cannot be changed once a draft has been saved. To create an event with the same information but a different date, click on SAVE AND DUPLICATE.

Duplicate event

To duplicate an existing event, accessyour dashboard via ENTER.
You will be able to see all your events here. To duplicate one of these, click on the icon. A new data entry form will open; the content of some fields will have been copied over from the previous event.

In the Dashboard, you can manage your published and draft events, upload a new event or change your organiser details. To enter your Dashboard go to ENTER and access using your log-in details (see REGISTRATION FORM)
